Finances

Our congregation gives thanks for God’s gifts, and individuals graciously return a portion of their earnings to the church, as they are able. Like most United Church congregations, we are entirely supported through the weekly donations of our members.

Many members at First United choose to make their offerings through the PAR (Pre–Authorized Remittance) programme — it’s convenient for members, and provides a steady reliable stream of income to meet the church’s expenses. Others prefer to use weekly offering envelopes, to contribute cash or cheques.

Donations made to the church are tax deductible.

Our members also very generously support the important work of the United Church’s Mission and Service Fund.

First United Foundation

As with most charitable foundations, the First United Foundation receives gifts such as cash, securities, annuities or bequests, which are carefully invested to generate income. That income is used to support current projects and ministries of our church, while the capital is preserved in perpetuity. Assistance is available to explore the tax benefits of such gifts.
